Having provided both training and event cover in first aid since 2008, we took the decision earlier this year to add Emergency First Aid for Dogs to our portfolio of courses. This 3 hour training course will be suitable for both dog owners and professionals involved in dog care services, and will be available from April 2021.
Our Director, with years of experience in first aid training, course development and both living with dogs and dog rescue with voluntary organisations, has based the course around the principles of emergency first aid for humans and the current guidance on emergency care for dogs.
Amongst the areas covered in the Emergency First Aid for Dogs course will be;
- Assessment of conscious and unconscious casualties
- Management of airway blockage and choking
- CPR in a non-breathing canine casualty
- Treatment of blood loss
The course will be CPD accredited, to demonstrate its effectiveness for both professional and non-professional attendees, and will be available on both an open and internal basis from the 3 bases of Sustain Ltd in;
- Moira, Northern Ireland
- Gosport, Hampshire
- Ayr, Scotland
